The Most Dangerous Continent: Asia

Increase in natural disasters related to climate change are likely to exacerbate the vulnerable of children who already live in the most disaster – prone continent: Asia. Between 1996 and 2005, over two-thirds of the people killed by natural disaster lived in Asia. The total number of people killed by natural disasters between 1996 and 2005 was 84% higher than the number of people killed in the decade before. Across the world, women and children are most vulnerable in natural disasters and most likely to perish. While earthquakes may or may not be triggered by climate change, the example from the Indians ocean tsunami 2004 illustrates the point: of the 226, 408 people killed by the tsunami, more than half were women, and in some regions four times as many as women as men were killed. More than a third of those killed were children.

Facts

Natural disasters

Given the overwhelming evidence that climate change will lead to more frequent and serve natural disasters, children will be increasingly exposed to floods, droughts, windstorms, and possibly earthquakes and tsunami. Climate change will also lead to serious, localized but intense weather – related events, many of which are unlikely to generate media attention but will take a toll on both rural and urban development.

Disasters hit epicenters of poverty the hardest, as the poorest people often live in unsafe settlements in sub-standard housing and in dangerous areas: in earthquake zones, on floodplains, on step slopes at risk of erosion, or other areas which are prone to disaster.

The average number of people affected by natural disasters each year is currently 250 million people will be affected by natural disasters per year in the next decade, and that 175 million of those affected will be children.

How CO2 affects where we live

If we (human) continue to emit CO2 through agricultural, activities (methane gas is 21 times more powerful than CO2 and comes from rotting waste water of palm oil mils, animal waste, municipal solid waste) and exhaust from cars, trucks, ocean going ships, and power generation from coal, diesel and natural gas, we will add stock of CO2 in the atmosphere and CO2 is a green house das that traps the heat ffrom the sun ans cause temperature to rise and cause extreme climate change.

Melting of ice caps cause the sea level to rise, low countries ike Holland and coastal areas in Maldives, cities and towns near the sea will be submerged and people who live there will be forced to move higher ground.

Climate change may affect rainfall in Africa savanah, draught and subsequent lack os water forcing cattle farmers to either abandon buisness or migrate to other areas.

The evaporation of ice may also cool down the warm gulf stream that warm up Ireland and UK, causing extreme cold and making life very unconfortable.

Change in temperature cause HURRICANE to become more frequent and more powerful, devaste mid and south easter coast of United States.

2nd Inquary into

How human activity change the CO2 level

We rely on fossible fuel which has trapped Hydrocarbon in the biomass such as tress and plants from milliions of years ago deposited underground in the case of oil and coal.

We dig them up by mining and extraction, burn so that Hydrocarbon becomes water and carbon dioxide by combining with oxygen in the atmosphere to release heat which we need to cook and to power our industry and generate electricity this process add stock of CO2 in the atmosphere.

The Uses of Co2

Uses of Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide is one of the valuable gases with large number of uses. For example carbon dioxide is use to make chemicals, refrigeration system, inert agent for packaging, beverages, welding systems, fire extinguishers, water treatment, horticulture, precipitated calcium carbonate for the paper industry and many other application. Large groups of carbon dioxide are also used to make the ozone layer thinner and for enhanced oil. Now days carbon dioxide is improved by making carbon dioxide from synthetic fertilizer and hydrogen plants or using either a chemical or physical solvent scrubbing system synthetic fertilizer and hydrogen plants, using either a chemical or physical solvent scrubbing system. Sometime carbon dioxide is made out limekilns, such as those used in the production of sodium carbonate and alcoholic drinks. Now this involves the heating of limestone. In some parts of the world, such as the United States, Italy, Norway and Japan, some carbon dioxide is extracted from natural carbon dioxide wells. A large proportion of all CO2 recovered is used at the point of production to make further chemicals of commercial importance, chiefly urea and methanol. The CO2 recovered for other commercial uses is purified, liquefied, delivered and stored mostly as a liquid, typically at 20 bar and –18°C table.

How do we maintain the acceptable level of Co2

We have to stop burning fossil fuels, don’t use to much cars that causes a lot of pollution. It is better to stop it before it is to late and there is no more we could do. Stop deforestation and just grow more trees so the trees could absorb the Co2. If the trees has absorb Co2 they could convert the poisonous gas to become oxygen that humans are needed. Trees could absorb water too so there will not be too much flood. Better reforestation than deforestation.

Brief Explenation

Carbon dioxide, Co2, is one of the gases in our atmosphere, being uniformly distributed over the earth's surface at a concentration of about 0.033% or 330 ppm. Commercially, finds uses as a refrigerant (dry ice is solid Co2), in beverage carbonation, and in fire extinguishers. 10.89 billion pounds of carbon dioxide were produced by the chemical industry. 22nd on the list of top chemicals produced. Because the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is low, it is not practical to obtain the gas by extracting it from air. Most commercial carbon dioxide is recovered as a by product of other processes, such as the production of ethanol by fermentation and the manufacture of ammonia. Some Co2 is obtained from the combustion of coke or other carbon containing fuels.

The Changes Co2 cause

The changes that Co2 cost is very brutal because it makes the world hotter. Because of that the steel is easier to rust, the ice blocks around the world will melt. The scientist predict that in the 21st the sea level will rise about 18cm to 59cm (7inch to 23inch) and the temperature is going to rise 1,8ºC to 4ºC( 35,34ºF to 39,2ºF).

How Co2 Affects Where we live!

Co2 could affect aour world in many ways. it could melt the polar ice caps and many more. There is alot of things you can know about this inquary that you didn't know before.

First Co2 can destroy or affect the enviroment by making disasters. It could bring landslides, flood, volcannic eruptions, tsunami, tidle waves and alot more. we could spot that from happening by plantting more trees and to not waste electricity. if we use electricity we are the same as making more Co2 because electricity came from burnbing fossil fuels.

Seccond we Could stop the chemicals industries and factories. We also need to use ozone friendly fuel. then we need to use bus, trucks and cars that don't pollute. that is all for my 1st inquary.
